Frequently Asked Questions
When do you roast and ship?
For subscriptions - to deliver the freshest beans, roastings are typically done on Saturdays and shipped out the following Monday.
Regular orders will be shipped out within 1 - 2 business days. Beans will not be older than 2 weeks.
How long are your beans good for?
While you can drink directly after roasting, we find our coffee flavors peaks around 2 - 4 weeks after the roast date. If unopened, the shelf life can be over a year, as most roast aren't roasted dark and have little to no surface oils which will go rancid. For Espresso, this resting period is vital, and you should wait at least 2 weeks prior to drinking.
What's the difference between Filter Roast and Espresso Roast?
Filter roast profiles are lighter and focuses on highlighting the origin of the beans, while espresso roast profiles tend to be more developed, sweet, and heavily bodied. You can use filter roasts with espresso, but may find the acidity unpleasant.
What Grind size should I use for my brew style?
For starters:
Coarse - French Press, Cold Brew, Batch Brew
Medium - Chemex, French Press, Cold Brew, Batch Brew, Pourovers
Medium Fine - Aeropress, Moka, Pourovers
Fine - Espresso (for best results, invest in a grinder!)
Generally the lighter the roast, the finer you should grind in order to get proper extraction.
